VAHAN TEKEYAN SCHOOLS IN ARMENIA
Tekeyan Cultural Association of the United States and Canada (TCA) is actively involved in the cultivation of young minds — our greatest resource.

TCA is responsible for maintaining four schools in Armenia which bear the name of the poet Vahan Tekeyan and are located in the capital Yerevan, the Karpi and Stepanavan villages and the earthquake stricken city of Gumri.

The Yerevan school was renovated during the last few years thanks to donations from members and friends of TCA. Sanitary systems were replaced and a dental clinic was installed in the school. The third part of the school’s renovation will start at the beginning of next year. Rita Balian of Arlington, Virginia is the coordinator of all TCA Schools in Armenia.

The TCA Vahan Tekeyan School in the village of Karpi is the only school of the region, accommodating about 1,000 children, including "Vartkess and Rita Balian" kindergarten. During the last few years, the roofs of the three buildings in the school complex in Karpi have been fixed, classrooms renovated and the the gymnasium restored.

The Gumri School which was the humblest of the three schools because of its wagon classrooms, due to the earthquake, on October 2000 received a new school building with all the amenities.
