OUR GROWING SCHOOL
The Tekeyan Cultural Association Building Committee had planned to establish an Armenian Day School in Hollywood as early as January 1979. Within a few months, the Committee acquired four houses located at the North-East corner of Cahuenga Blvd. and Lexington Ave. with a combined area of 22,400 square feet, thus setting the site of the future Arshag Dickranian Armenian School.

The school was originally designed to accommodate 270 students, ranging from Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.

Inauguration took place on August 30, 1981, and two weeks later started with 44 students, enrolled in Kindergarten through Forth Grade.

In the following years (1983-1996), six more houses were purchased, adding 17,000 square feet to the school complex and extending its northern boundary to La Mirada Avenue.

In 1987 the facilities went through major physical changes to raise them to High School Level. Thus, four of the existing houses along La Mirada Ave. were replaced by trailer classrooms and playground area, and upper grade classrooms were added to the main building.

The first crop of our High School graduates was the class of1990. Since then, Arshag Dickranian School has been operating with a capacity of 340 students, ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th Grade.

During the year 1997-98 two additional properties were acquired. The annexation of the said properties will add another 11,200 sq. ft. to the school facilities, thus giving us the opportunity to work on a Master School expansion plan.
